SPEAKER BIO:
In 2016, Mendy Laval moved from the corporate world to academia. Mendy is the Intrapreneur in Residence at California State University Fresno; teaches Corporate Entrepreneurship/Intrapreneurship through the Craig School of Business; directs the University's Pay it Forward Luncheon Forum; is the Johanson Faculty Fellows Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship Program (Formerly Coleman Foundation) Entrepreneur in Residence, driving the growth of the entrepreneurial mindset throughout the University for the past several years, Mendy has been leading the 20-year-old Laval Entrepreneurship Mentor Program (EMP). The program provides aspiring students from all disciplines an opportunity to build relationships with Central Valley's top leaders and entrepreneurs. The two-semester Program builds professional skills through weekly sessions, community mixers, field trips, national conference attendance, and lunches. Students are matched with a mentor who best suits their aspirations. In addition, students have access to over 100 mentors in the program, with an opportunity to build relationships that will last a lifetime. Mendy received a master’s degree in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management in 1985 and her BA from the University of Southern California in 1983. She has spent 35 years working in private and public corporations. Mendy spent her early career in global business development with a significant focus on Asia Pacific, Europe, and Central America. Her most recent position was President of a liquid from solid filtration company. She served in this capacity from 1998 to 2013 until it was sold to Lindsay Corporation (LNN) in 2013. Currently, Mendy is co-owner of Laval Partners LLC, a consulting firm, and The Launchpad, offering flexible workspace solutions. Philanthropy is of great importance to Mendy. She has served on several non-profit governing boards. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at Valley Children's Healthcare (2000-2011 and 2017-present) Mendy has served in many senior leadership positions, including Chairman of the Board.
